We were really excited when Susie and Steve contacted us to film their wedding. The two were planning a fabulous ceremony and reception right at Lake Zurich and we were so happy to join them for the big day.
We drove out from Bavaria on Friday to be rested and safely on time for the getting ready on the next morning. On the way to the bride Meltem had an earlier drop off at Hotel Sonne, where Steve and many of the guest were staying. Franzi drove on to meet Susie at their apartment. While Steve was surrounded by his groomsmen, Susie had her bridesmaids, parents and flower girl with her for the getting ready.
A bit of nerves were showing in Susie and her family, but it was hard to get too stressed out with Susie’s dad taking a break on the balcony enjoying the stunning view of Lake Zurich. When Susie’s mom, the bridesmaids and the flower girl were all dressed and ready to go, Susie’s bridesmaids helped her with her wedding dress and it was time to head over to the church.
Steve was already at the church in Meilen, where the guest for the ceremony were starting to arrive. When everyone was gathered inside and taken their seats, Susie arrived at the church fairytale-like with horse and open carriage. On her father’s arm she then followed her bridesmaids into the church and down the aisle to meet Steve at the altar. The church was decorated with beautiful gypsophila flower arrangements. In front of their family and friends Susie and Steve then stood to exchange the traditional Anglican wedding vows.
They both took each other as wife and husband „to have and to hold from this day forward, for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish, till death us do part, according to God’s holy law, in the presence of God“ they made their vows.
Steve and Susie exited the church to a beautiful summer day, where they actually had to look for some shade to receive all the congratulations and well wishes from their relatives and friends. After a quick group picture in front of the church by their photographer Peter Greitzke, everyone walked over to the ferry stop at the lake right next to the church to board the exclusively booked vessel that would take them across Lake Zurich to the location of their reception at the Haus am See lying on the north-western shore of the lake, close to the city of Zurich.
This is one of those instances where two videographers working together especially pays off: Meltem could ride the boat with the couple and their guest, while Franzi took the car around the lake to get to the Haus am See before everyone else arrived to film all the decorations and the location and of course the boat landing next to the Haus am See.
After another round of champagne and some nibbles accompanied by a talented saxophonist, the guests moved over to the arranged sit down dinner and welcomed the newlyweds with a standing ovation. Between the different dinner courses, the father of the bride, the best man and the groom himself all held beautifully prepared and very entertaining speeches.
The last big task of the dinner was for Susie and Steve to cut their cake and thus open the desert buffet for their guest, before everyone moved to one of the inside rooms.
Here the couple opened the dance floor and a joyous celebration that would last well into the night. Take a look at their wedding trailer here:
